More about Fertility with IWSC

The causes of infertility are split equally between men and women, as well as a combination of factors on both sides. That means the path to parenthood involves understanding the health and medical conditions of both the male and female partner. Support and advice from Dr. Winder can help get to the bottom of why you’re not falling pregnant.
When should I see a fertility specialist?
- Under 35: when you’ve been having regular, unprotected sex for 12 months without conceiving
- Over 35: when you’ve been having regular, unprotected sex for six months without conceiving
- First step: both partners will need a referral from a GP to see Dr Winder
- Initial consultation: we’ll explore your full medical, surgical, social and family history.
The first consultation will be an in-depth discussion about your health and lifestyle. For many couples, fertility issues can be traced to lifestyle, things such as alcohol, smoking, weight, stress or a number of other factors. For women, we investigate the possibility of polycystic ovarian syndrome, premature menopause, issues in the fallopian tubes and other ovulation disorders and for men investigation starts with semen analysis.
Depending on your joint assessment and diagnosis, Dr. Winder can provide advice and guidance for natural conception and treatment options for assisted conception.
